Take a gander at your rivals — not to mirror them, but rather to gain from them. Distinguish their hits and misses and the patterns they are covering. What is or alternately isn't resounding with their crowd? Take these perceptions and add your extraordinary flavor. Improve where they succeed and enhance where they miss the mark.
